The dark side of the pearl
With their immaculate color or slightly opalescent, the classic pearls do not stop being a must for the upcoming summer season.
Nature, however, combined with a small help of man, gives us versions of the pearls in very new color combinations, ranging from gray to black, suggesting a darker and more fascinating summer style.
Exemplary the last collection signed Mikimoto: Passionoir. The famous Japanese brand investigates the most seductive side of the pearls of the South Seas, subjecting them to the Japanned Noir technique, which involves a black rhodium bath. The chemical reaction given by the strong contrast between the purity of the pearls and the mysterious power of the black color gives life to gems from the original iridescence that, stranded in important silver links, are converted into jewels with a pioneering spirit.
Following the same experimental attitude, also Yana Nesper, who renews its beauty with a contemporary twist, combining the black pearls of Tahiti with silver hooks and leather straps.
Finally, the Thevault15 brand chooses the rarity of pearls with dark shades from French Polynesia, and combines them with 18K gold and diamonds, giving us original combinations of timeless beauty.
