Bees: a decorative symbol for watches
We are used to seeing them flit from flower to flower but bees also love to land on watches, becoming one of the motifs imprinted on the dials of modern timepieces with an aristocratic flair. An insect with many symbolic meanings, in Europe it has always been a veritable emblem of nobility.
Alessandro Michele, the creative mind at Gucci, has long made it part of the company’s lexicon, transforming it into a code of contemporary style. The “G-Timeless” watch is a perfect example: with a steel case and bracelet, it flaunts a bee on the center of a silver sun-brushed dial.
The British accessory brand Olivia Burton London, celebrates the bee’s more positive side by giving it the leading role in glamourous and particularly ethereal watches. Like the “Rainbow Bee” model with its mesh strap: the bee, placed on a glimmering 30mm sunray dial, features multi-colored crystal-embellished wings.
Lastly, Opsobjects offers a particularly energetic and feisty version: a watch with silver-colored metal case and dial and a bee with contrasting golden profiles in the center.
