Swatch, main partner at Venice Biennale 2024
Known for its revolutionary and creative concepts, Swatch, one of the world's most iconic and provocative watch brands, continues to nurture its strong ties with art by returning as the main partner of Biennale Arte 2024, scheduled to take place from 20th April to 24th November 2024.
To mark the 60th edition of the exhibition, which will be called “Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere” and curated by Adriano Pedrosa, the brand will be exhibiting the imaginative work of a renowned contemporary Asian artist at the Giardini location, while the Arsenale will feature the distinctive works of five artists residing at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai.
The hotel is the art headquarters that the brand inaugurated in 2011 to welcome and support artists from all over the world, giving them the opportunity to take advantage of the space and time, work freely and perfect their art within a dynamic community of extraordinary, international and stimulating minds. Since its inauguration, the residency has welcomed more than 500 artists from 58 countries.
The alliance with Biennale Arte has continued now for seven consecutive editions at which Swatch has contributed innovative and creative initiatives featuring emerging and established artists such as Ian Davenport, Joe Tilson and Joana Vasconcelos. In an interview, Carlo Giordanetti, Creative Director of Swatch International and CEO of the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, said «The challenge we give ourselves every two years, is to offer a different point of view of what the relationship between Swatch and the contemporary art world is.»
